Members of the organizational committee for the Annual Movin & Groovin for PanCAN 5K run/walk would like to remember those close to us that we have lost to pancreatic cancer.

Michael Merle Fehl (2-22-44 to 11-15-01)

Michael Fehl was an athlete all of his life, and one of the things that he loved was running.  He ran in numerous local races and several marathons. Even after his diagnoses of cancer, he continued to walk several miles a day as long as he could.  He instilled in his family a love for running.  He would be very proud of this event, not only because of the run, but also because it supports the beginning of a Richmond event to support PanCAN.  He survived pancreatic cancer for a year after his diagnosis, and he supported PanCAN and their work and continually sought out others in the area to set up a support group.  We know that he would have been very proud of what we have done.  We love you dad, this race is for you.   -Daughters Carrie and Alison and wife of 34 years, Mary Fehl

Anne Elizabeth Velez (3-22-64 to 5-29-03)

Anne Velez an inspiration to all of her friends and family.  She will be remembered for her kind words, sense of humor and wonderful way with children.  She will live on in our hearts and through the many lives that she touched while here on earth. We will never forget.

Bruce Murray was a wonderful kind hearted man who had a great sense of humor!  Although pancreatic cancer took him in September 2002, he will always be remembered as a loving father, brother, son and husband.  He is missed every day!

Judith Sydnor Miller

Judy was a kind, loving and generous person.  She was a wife, mother and grandmother who devoted much of her life to the causes of those close to her.  Through this devotion she became an advocate for Alzheimer's research which took the life of her mother.  Although her fight with cancer was brief and it took her life six months after she was diagnosed, she would be proud of the fact that her family could be a part of this effort.

Elaine Taylor Swain (10/16/47 to 7/9/01)

Elaine was a loving and devoted daughter, mother and wife.  She enjoyed life, loved to laugh and lived to take care of children.  Pancreatic cancer took her life only 5 months after diagnosis, but she will live forever in the hearts of those whose lives she touched every day.  She will never be forgotten.

Winifred "Freddie" Kelly (1957-2000)

We love and miss you Nana

Freddie was born in August 1957 and died in January 2000.  She was 42.  She became ill in the summer of 1999 and wasn't correctly diagnosed until October.

She was the youngest of 5 children.  She also had a husband and two other children.  Since her death, Julia, now has a sister, Alivia.  She was a nurturer and someone who tried to mediate family disputes.

Dr. Kenneth Wilson Dunkle, Jr.  (May 25, 1946 to September 3, 2005)

Ken was compassionate, intelligent and had a wonderful (although sometimes quirky) sense of humor.  He dedicated his life to serving the needs of his family, friends and patients in a rural community north of Pittsburgh, PA.  He has a long list of accomplishments, but most importantly his family and friends remember him for the day to day difference he made in so many people's lives.  We are all so grateful to have known him as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and physician.

James Pelligrino (d. 12-26-2005)

Jim, in red t-shirt, pictured here with friends and family was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just a few months beofre our first race in 2004.  Jim walked with us in both 2004 and 2005.  Sadly he passed away in December of 2005.

Jim you will always be remembered and missed.

May 25, 1937 – November 17, 2005

Frances Louise Cousins Taylor

Frances was an extremely compassionate person, she never met a stranger.  She loved to socialize with her friends, old and new, spending time with her God-grandchildren and traveling with her husband, James.  Her passions included, eating good food, shopping and talking extensively with her three daughters.  Frances had been a Breast Cancer survivor for seven years and she was an advocate, trying to help anyone who was dealing with this disease.  She also put up a valiant effort getting others to listen to what their bodies were telling them.  God granted her only five months to do this, before she succumbed to Pancreatic Cancer.  Frances was privileged to come to the 2005 race and to cheer everyone across the finish line.  We love and miss you, James, Jami, Sheryl and Allison.
